Table runners…

I love the simplicity of this table setting.  It’s great how the table cloth is undersized to show off the beauty of the table and draw the guests closer visually.  All the pictures shown here are from marthastewart.com.

I love the color of this table runner, and it’s a great idea to turn two thin ones horizontally on the table.

The gold turkeys are a bit much for my taste, but I love the concept of a rugged table mixed with opulent items.

A cute screenprinting idea.

 To make a simple runner:

1. Determine the size of each runner: For the length, measure the width of your table. Add 12 inches for overhang and 1 inch for seam allowance (1/2″ all-around).  If you have some newsprint or craft paper, you can make a simple pattern piece by folding it until you are happy with the overall look (and then add your seam allowance to the final ‘pattern’).

2. Cut fabric to size, then press under 1/2-inch seam allowance on all 4 sides of fabric and topstitch (or you can use a fusible hemming tape, or even a glue stick can will work if you don’t happen to have a sewing machine).

I’m loving this image.  I’m normally not a table cloth sort of girl since our table is so amazing on it’s own, but I’ve been toying around with the idea of screenprinting a runner for special holidays.
